Gift Cards Feature - RednBlue App
RednBlue is an e-commerce app. The goal was to launch a Gift Cards feature so users can buy, personalize, send, and redeem gift cards directly in the app to be used in the RednBlue services.
Overview
Designed the end-to-end experience: quick and custom creation flows, email/scheduled delivery, previews, payment methods, history with resend/edit, and code redemption (with or without the app). I partnered with Product, Engineering, and Compliance to align payment rules, amounts, and states.
The Challenge
Ship a brand-new feature inside a mature app while keeping UI consistency, minimizing purchase friction, and making redemption crystal-clear—especially for first-time recipients. I also defined error/success states and in-app education to reduce support load.
The Solution
Two paths: Quick flow (fast amount selection + send) and Custom flow (design, message, scheduled date). Clear preview of card design and value before payment. Payment methods aligned with what the app already supports. Toasts for success/error and an educational modal. History of sent cards with resend/edit recipient options. Redemption credits balance to Wallet and shows recent movements to build trust.
